4 state police officers slain in 2 incidents
Four Chihuahua state police officers were killed Thursday in two attacks in Jurez.
Officials identified the victims as Cmdrs. Manuel Caldern and Jonathan Lpez Moreno and police agents Gabriel Ramirez and Isaac Omar Ramirez Martinez.
Two other agents, Alonso Gonzalez and Israel Estrada Duarte, were wounded in the attacks.
Caldern and Gabriel Ramirez were ambushed by an armed group of men in the Satelite subdivision, in northeast Jurez, while they were on their way to work. They were in the unit that serves arrest warrants.
Lpez and Ramirez Martinez were attacked by two groups of men in vehicles while at a gasoline station at Hermanos Escobar in Central Jurez. A fifth agent escaped unharmed. Their green and white police vehicles were riddled with bullets.
